Welcome to the Bolen Ranch!

We have a six-acre ranchette at Queen Creek, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. When we first moved in, one of our neighbors had a Texas Longhorn steer on his property that we began watching. Finally, like many other people, we decided "we need one of those, too". After contacting a local breeder, we discovered we could have some beautiful mama cows. We bought three cows with calves and a young bull. We didn't even buy a steer until four years later!

We purchased the land in Lufkin, Texas in 1997. We had no intentions of buying land so far away, but when we saw it we knew it was the place for us. We haven't had one regret. We enjoy the people, the country, the cattle. It's like a working vacation for us.

Bruce Ollive is our ranch manager in Lufkin. He does a super job with the cattle, and we couldn't have found anyone better for our ranch. Bruce lives there with his wife, Connie. Be sure and contact Bruce when inquiring about cattle.

We currently have about 200 head of longhorns. We have enjoyed showing cattle, and have had a class champion at the world show each year since 1996. We have also had a TLBAA world show overall grand champion non-haltered female.

We have been serious about showing, and our breeding is a product of that. On the other hand, we LOVE the LONG horns, and we breed for that too. We have several cows that measure over 60 inches (a couple close to 70 inches). We have used Superman and Tabasco which measure over 60 inches.

We are also working on our straight Butler herd. We currently have about 20 head and we are growing. We enjoy the annual Butler sale in Lockhart, Texas. The people are super.
